Oliver Scholars are typically nominated by teachers, or guidance counselors at their public middle schools or from community organizations.

Nominees go through a rigorous two-phase, 14-month process before they become Oliver Scholars. In addition to the nomination, application and placement process, potential Scholars must complete two intensive Summer Immersion Programs.
